Christmas Cheer

Well what an exciting month December has been so far...

Last week we had our annual Ladies Evening, thank you to all who attended from both schools, we raised around a fabulous £950. This money has contributed to trips and to the recent panto in school.

On Thursday last week we had M&M productions in school delivering the Pantomime Aladdin (oh yes we did....!)   It was great to see the boys and girls join in and enjoy the show.

On Friday we had our Christmas Fayre, it was a huge success and we really would like to thank everyone for coming along and making it such a success.  Again we raised a fabulous amount for school funds and once the elves have finished counting I will let you know the total.

This week is equally as busy and exciting.  On Thursday at 1.30pm we have our Christmas Nativity and Show and again on Friday at 9.30am.  We hope you can come along and join in with us.  We will be selling our Christmas edition of the St James's Magazine, created by the Magazine Club cost £1. There will also be buckets for any loose change, proceeds will go to S.V.D.P.

Also a big well done to the boys and girls in P4 and P7 who attended mass on Sunday.  It was lovely to see the children at mass and we look forward to supporting them as they continue on their journey towards the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation.

An end of term update will be issued in the last week of term.

Scottish Learning Festival

On Thursday 25th September, Miss MacNeil, Mrs Ferguson and 5 of our primary 6 pupils attended the Scottish Learning Festival at the SECC in Glasgow.  The pupils presented their work on 'Glow' with Microsoft to  a wide audience including educationalists from across the country.  The boys and girls were fabulous and their presentation was both fun and engaging - well done!  They were so wonderful that Education Scotland tweeted about their performance.  We are all very proud of you, keep up the 'glowing' work!!

Welcome back

It's great to see all our boys and girls back at school for another school session.

Please take time to familiarise yourself with our new website, browse the blogs and please feel free to leave a comment.

All the children have settled in well and we are glad to have our new Primary 1 pupils in school full-time.

Primary 7 are working well with their new teacher, they are situated in a classroom called the 'VIP' suite! Primary 7 and Miss McDermott have recently established a link with another Primary 7 class from Our Lady of Lourdes Primary in Blackburn. The boys and girls will be writing to one another and comparing areas of Scotland. We look forward to hearing all about West Lothian!

Thank you to all our parents who attended the recent Race Night. The next fundraising event will be a Ladies Night in the Beechwood Community Centre on Friday 28th of November at 7pm. Please come along and support this school event. All money raised helps to fund trips and events within the school.

Thank you again for your continued support, as always should you have any questions regarding this information or indeed any aspect of your child's education please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Welcome back

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely long weekend.

Last week proved to be a very exciting week in St James's.  On Thursday the boys and girls had a surprise visit from Clyde, the Commonwealth Games Mascot.  It's fair to say there was much excitement in the school as Fraser from Game On Scotland showed the following video clip:

The pupils enjoyed learning all about Captain Bristle and his journey around the world planting thistles.

When the video finished Fraser introduced our very special surprise visitor....

Our exciting afternoon finished with Clyde presenting St James's with a special Commonwealth Games Plaque.  This plaque is to reward all the good work taking place in the school and it can be viewed at the front entrance to the school.
For more information on the games and how you can get involved visit:  http://www.gameonscotland.org/
